The vaccination drive is going on in India since past long days against CORONA virus. In this drive only age group of 45 and above were allowed to get covid jab. The Indian government has now announced to give vaccination jab to all above 18 from May 1. The announcement was made on Monday after PM Narendra Modi had a talk over India's record of daily surges in novel coronavirus cases.

The government said that all adults can get Covid shots and states can buy doses directly from vaccine-makers. As of now they are allowed in "liberalized and accelerated Phase 3” strategy of COVID-19 vaccination. On the same day the country reported 2.73 lakh fresh cases in the highest spike since the pandemic broke out a year ago. PM held a series of meetings yesterday and stressed that vaccination was "the biggest weapon" in the fight against the coronavirus. He has urged doctors to encourage more and more patients to get vaccinated. Further he continued saying that the government has been working hard for over a year to ensure that maximum numbers of Indians are able to get the vaccine in the shortest possible of time.

By the way, it will be the world's largest vaccination drive so pricing, procurement, eligibility and administering of vaccines will be kept flexible. States can now get additional vaccine doses directly from the manufacturers.
