SHIMLA: Expressing concern over the resurgence in Covid-19 cases, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has urged the people adhere to the protocols and wear masks in crowded places to check the spread of the virus.
The Chief Minister said that the government was closely monitoring the situation while presiding over a conference on "Strengthening role of Himachal Pradesh legislators for improving health services during and post-pandemic period in India" organised by the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (IAPPD).
He said that in order to offer individuals specialised medical care services, the government was implementing reforms in the health sector. In the near future, the benefits of these measures would become apparent. In order to provide citizens with access to state-of-the-art medical facilities, he promised that current technology would be utilised to make the state's health institutions world-class.
In the next six months, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda and the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla will both have robotic surgery facilities available. This would save patients' important time and produce reliable results.
IGMCH has begun building a PET block, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College would spend Rs. 50 crore installing a PET scanner, he said. He also said the government has also allocated Rs 11 crore to set up a 175-bed medical emergency facility with a trauma centre at the IGMCH.
He said that the building of the medical colleges in Chamba and Hamirpur has been accelerated and is anticipated to be finished this year, bringing specialised medical services to the residents of these areas closer to their home.
