New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India has reported 2,503 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 27 deaths. According to data supplied by the Union Health Ministry on Monday (March 14), the country witnessed a total of 4,377 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to about 98.72 percent and bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,24,41,449.

The total number of current COVID-19 cases in India has decreased to 36,168, according to government data released today. The country's total death toll today stands at 5,15,877. The first death in India as a result of the COVID pandemic was recorded in March 2020.

The country has reported a total of 5,15,850 deaths, including 1,43,752 in Maharashtra, 66,793 in Kerala, 40,018 in Karnataka, 38,023 in Tamil Nadu, 26,141 in Delhi, 23,491 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,186 in West Bengal, the health ministry said on Sunday. The government emphasised that more than 70% of deaths were caused by comorbidities.

"Our data are being reconciled with those of the Indian Council of Medical Research," the ministry stated on its website, adding that state-by-state distribution is subject to higher verification and reconciliation.
