New Delhi: India reported 27,409 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, while active cases remained below 5 lakh. For the past eight days, the daily COVID-19 cases have remained below 1 lakh, According to data from the Union health ministry.

The death toll rose to 5,09,358 with 347 more deaths, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.The number of active cases has dropped to 4,23,127, accounting for 1.12% of all infections. The daily positive rate was 2.23 percent.

The number of patients who have recovered from the virus has risen to 4,17,60,458, according to the report.  The total number of doses given out in the country as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination effort has surpassed 173.42 crore.

On August 7, 2020, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It exceeded the 60 lakh level on September 28, the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and the one-crore mark on December 19. On May 4, 2021, India passed the two-crore mark, and on June 23, it passed the three-crore mark. 117 people from Kerala, 25 from Karnataka, and 23 from West Bengal are among the 347 fresh fatalities. 1,43,416 people died in Maharashtra, 62,377 in Kerala, 39,665 in Karnataka, 37,932 in Tamil Nadu, 26,076 in Delhi, 23,399 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,040 in West Bengal, according to official figures.
