COVID Updates: India reports 1,685 new cases, 83 deaths in 24-hrs

New Delhi: India has seen 1,685 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with 83 deaths as a result of the infection during the last 24 hours.  According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday (March 25), the country saw 2,499 discharges in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to 98.75 percent and total recoveries to 4,24,78,087.

According to ministry data released today, the overall number of active COVID-19 cases in India has decreased to 21,530 (0.05 percent). The country's total death toll today stands at 5,16,755. The first death from the COVID pandemic was recorded in India in March 2020. Today's daily positivity rate is 0.24 percent.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 78,56,44,225 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of March 24. On Thursday, 6,91,425 of these samples were tested. Meanwhile, according to data given by the city's health department on Thursday, there were 111 new Covid-19 cases and one fatality in Delhi. In the national capital, the rate of positivity was 0.38 percent.
