NEW DELHI:  India on Thursday, July 28,  reported 20,557 fresh Covid-19 cases, a moderate increase from the 18,313 infections recorded the previous day (Wednesday), the Union Health Ministry said in a statement.

In the corresponding period, there were 44 additional fatalities which took the nationwide Covid death toll to 5,26,211. The active caseload climbed 1,46,323, accounting for 0.33 percent of the country's total positive cases.

The recovery rate of 19,216 patients in the last 24 hours took the total tally to 4,32,86,787. With this, India's recovery rate stood at 98.47 percent. While the daily positivity (TPR) mounted  to 5.18 pepercentthe weekly positivity rate remained at 4.71 percent

Also in the corresponding period, a total of 3,96,783 covid tests were conducted across India, increasing the overall tally to over 87.40 crore.

As of July 28  morning, India's Covid19 vaccination coverage surpassed 203.21 crore, achieved through  2,68,70,726 sessions Over 3.87 crore adolescents have been given a first dose of Covid-19 vaccination since the commencement of the vaccination drive for this age bracket.
