COVID vaccination for children 12-14 yrs from March 16: Mandaviya

COVID immunisation for children aged 12 to 14 years will begin on March 16, and the co-morbidity clause for delivering preventive doses to people aged 60 and up has been removed, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

Corbevax, a COVID-19 vaccine made by Biological Evans in Hyderabad, would be given to children aged 12 to 14.

"If the children are secure, then the country is safe!" the minister stated in Hindi, tweeting the announcement. I am pleased to inform you that COVID immunisation for children aged 12 to 13 and 13 to 14 will begin on March 16. Also, everyone above the age of 60 will be able to receive prophylactic doses." He also urged families with children and adults aged 60 and up to be vaccinated.

The Union government has decided to begin COVID19 vaccination for the 12-13 and 13-14 year age groups (those born in 2008, 2009, and 2010, i.e. those who are already over 12 years of age) of the population on March 16, 2022, after due deliberation with scientific bodies, according to a statement from the health ministry.
