New Delhi: The country is facing shortage of vaccine in many parts of the country amid the corona crisis. vaccination centres have been closed due to shortage of vaccine at many places including Delhi. However, the Central Government is constantly trying to procure more and more vaccines and give them to the states. The Central Government has now ordered 30 crore corona vaccine from Hyderabad based vaccine manufacturing company Biological-E.
According to reports, the Health Ministry has finalized arrangements with Hyderabad-based vaccine maker Biological-E to book 30 crore corona vaccine doses. The report says that vaccine supplements are scheduled to be manufactured and stocked from August to December this year. According to a health ministry statement on Thursday, an advance payment of Rs 1,500 crore will be made by the Central government to Biological E for the vaccine.
Let us tell you that the vaccine being made by Biological-E will be the second indigenous vaccine made in India. Earlier, Covaxin has been made by Bharat Biotech. The corona vaccine of Biological-E, a RBD protein sub-unit vaccine, is currently undergoing phase-III clinical trials. The Ministry informed that the proposal of M/s Biological-E was examined by the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Coweed-19 (NEGVAC) and then allowed to be purchased only on their recommendation.
