COVID-19 cases in Mizoram a matter of concern for health department

The situation of Covid-19 in Mizoram is becoming a matter of concern for the health department. According to the health department, the state reported 1,402 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. At least 11,599 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. And in the last 24 hours, four more people died due to the infection, taking the death toll to 250.

According to a health official, fresh COVID cases were reported from different districts, while Aizawl recorded the highest number of 779 cases, followed by Siaha at 265 and Serchhip at 78. 242 children are among those infected. He said that 633 patients have developed symptoms of Covid-19. Mizoram now has 13,973 active cases, while 61,247 people, including 950 people, have recovered from the infection on Wednesday. The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 81.50 percent, and the mortality rate is 0.33 percent. The state has conducted more than 9.95 lakh sample tests so far.

According to State Immunization Officer Dr Laljavmi, more than 6.66 lakh people have been vaccinated till Wednesday, out of which 3.36 lakh people have received the full dose.
