Jammu and Kashmir: A night curfew has been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir as of Wednesday (November 17) due to a surge in COVID-19 instances, with the positive rate exceeding 0.2 percent, according to District Magistrate Anshul Garg of Jammu.

In light of the escalating COVID-19 cases in Jammu, the district administration has imposed a Corona curfew under section 144 CRPC in the district's territorial authority from Wednesday (November 17, 2021) from 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM instead of 11:00 PM to 05:00 AM, he said.

The number of COVID-19 instances recorded in the district has been steadily increasing over the last few days, and the positive rate has above 0.2 percent, requiring quick attention and remediation on the part of the district administration, according to the DM's directive issued on Tuesday.

According to the ruling, the Chief Medical Officer of Jammu must conduct thorough COVID testing in congested areas and probable hotspots. In Jammu and Kashmir, there were 1,517 active cases, with a total death toll of 4,453. The total number of recoveries so far is 3,28,318.
