Thiruvananthapuram: COVID-19 fatalities in South Kerala climbed to 27,765 on Saturday after the state added an accumulation of 563 deaths.
The daily new Covid cases in Kerala continued to fluctuate as last day with 9,361 people turning positive after 80,393 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, and the test positivity rate was 11.64 per cent, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a statement.
Apart from the total of 99 Covid deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the Kerala health department added 464 deaths as a backlog to the total fatalities. On the vaccination front, 94.2 per cent (2.51 crore) of the above aged 18 years old population got their first dose, of which 47.4 per cent (1.26 crore) received both their doses. Chief Minister Vijayan's statement also said that 9,401 people turned negative taking the active cases in the state to 80,892, of which 9.8 per cent of patients were in hospitals.
Meanwhile, India reported 16,326 new COVID-19 cases and 666 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today. With this, the total tally of COVID-19 deaths in India now stands at 4,53,708.
