Covid-19: Mandaviya to hold virtual meeting with state health ministers today

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya is all set to hold a virtual meeting with State health ministers on the Covid-19 state of affairs and preparedness at 3.00 pm today, sources said.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the status and preparedness of public health response to COVID  and stressed the need for strengthened surveillance with a focus on genome sequencing and increased testing.

As per a statement by the Prime Minister's Office, This high-level review meet comes against the backdrop of a rsise in COVID-19 cases in some countries.

PM Modi evaluated the country's COVID-19 situation, the readiness of the medical infrastructure and logistics, and the state of the national immunisation programme. He also evaluated the public health effects of the development of new Covid-19 variations.

The preparation for COVID19 in several states around the nation has been the subject of high-level talks with senior officials over the past two days.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, informed the people on Thursday regarding the government's readiness and said that there is no need to panic as New Delhi does not have a single case of the COVID-19 Omicron sub-variant BF.7.

Covid cases have increased dramatically in China, Japan, South Korea, France, and the US. According to data from the health ministry, the novel Omicron sub-variant BF.7, which has also been detected in 4 Indian states, as per health ministry data.

Speaking to the media after the COVID review meeting, Kejriwal said, "COVID-19 cases are rising in China and several other countries. It has BF.7 variant. We do not have a single case of that variant in the National Capital. So there's no need to worry."
