Due to a rise in Covid-19 cases and the discovery of the Omicron version in the state, the Assam government decided on Friday to advance night curfew timings by one and a half hours across the state, with effect from Saturday.

The night curfew would be in effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to a new SOP issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The Assam government had already imposed a night curfew from 11.30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on December 26. The night curfew will be in force from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting From january 8, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

"We are afraid that the third wave of Covid-19 has arrived, and it is expected to climax in Assam by the end of this month." "As a result, the state government has imposed a variety of measures to address the issue," stated Chief Minister Sarma.

From Saturday, weddings and public gatherings will be limited by half. "All schools in Assam, up to and including class 5, would be closed till January 30." "Schools would be closed up to Class 8 in Guwahati," Sarma added. Offline teaching-learning activities for Courses 9, 10, and 11 will be rotated on a weekly basis, with students who attend classes three days per week.

Sharma added that while Class 12 students face board exams, offline education would continue as usual.He also stated that school hours will resume as usual, and that the Education Department will issue a letter establishing school schedules for Classes 9, 10, and 11.

 

Businesses, offices, and commercial enterprises have been requested not to stay open past 9 p.m. At 9 p.m., restaurants and diners have been requested to close. Orders for takeout will be allowed until 10 p.m. Passengers who have been properly vaccinated have been permitted to ride in auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, and taxis with 100% seating capacity and Covid suitable behaviour.

Intra-district transport is allowed with fully vaccinated staff and passengers, but a heavy fine will be imposed on drivers who allow standing passengers, the order said. As per the new order, only fully-vaccinated people will be allowed to enter hotels, restaurants, government offices, shopping malls and multiplexes.
