Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has made a big announcement about the Covid-19 vaccine. she has said that the people in her state will be given the Corona vaccine free of cost. The Government is making arrangements for this at all levels. There will be vaccination of Covid-19 from 16th January across the country. Priority will be given to health workers, frontline workers first in the phases of vaccination. According to an estimate, the figure is about 3 crores.

Mamata's decision is considered to be very important before the assembly election in Bengal this year. She has also issued a government order on the decision to give vaccine free. The dry runs are being carried out in Bengal as well as all over India these days for vaccination. Last week, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had said that 3 crore front liners would get these vaccine free.

The picture is not clear about whether the rest of the people of the country will have to pay for it or not. It is said that the State Government will determine whether they will give free vaccine to their people or money will be taken for it. The Drug Controller General of India has allowed emergency use in India last Sunday by the Serum Institute of India's Covid Vaccine and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.
