Studies are going on worldwide for drug discovery of corona epidemic. In this regard, Serum Institutes Pune and Oxford University of England have prepared a drug called Covishield. Its first trial has been done in England, while the second and third phase trials will be in India. For this, 17 medical institutes of the country have been entrusted with the task. PGI Chandigarh is one of them. PGI director Prof Jagat Ram told the media in consultation that it is a matter of pride for us.

The second phase of Covishield drug trials will be in India. In PGI, we are going to start work on this soon. In a few days we will get the Ethical Permission. After this one of our team will start its work.

Apart from this, Madhu Gupta, Doctor of Community Medicine Department in PGEI will captain this team. Jagat Ram said that it will be tested on 1600 people in the country. In Chandigarh, we will test it on healthy people above 18 years. All these people will be investigated first. They will be injected after checking that everything is found to be correct. Then another dose will be given after 28 days. This time it will be seen that how much anti body can be prepared in the body. After his statement, a lot of hope has been tied to this medicine. If the drug is successful, then effective help can be found in the treatment of the corona patient.
