Amritsar: The process of cow slaughter is not stopping in Punjab. While the severed heads of 18 cows were found in Hoshiarpur, on the other hand, the heads of 4 more cows have been found in Jalandhar. Tension prevailed in the area after the severed heads of 4 cows were found under Maqsood police station in Jalandhar and several religious organizations have also gathered at the spot. This incident happened near Variana village. Police has also reached the spot. Let us inform that earlier 18 heads of cows were found near a railway track in Jhans village of Tanda Udmur in Hoshiarpur district. The incident took place at a distance of 36 km from district headquarters Hoshiarpur city. Tension prevailed in the area after the incident which took place in the morning on Saturday (March 12, 2022). The 'Punjab Gauseva Aayog' has constituted a two-member team to investigate the incident. It has also been asked to submit the report within a week. Condemning the incident, the future CM of Punjab and AAP leader Bhagwant Mann has also directed the Inspector General of Police (DGP) to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.

Bhagwant Mann said that anti-social elements should desist from such acts, because law and order has to be maintained at all costs. He said that no one would be allowed to pollute the peaceful environment of the state with such crimes. He has also directed the DGP to take strict action against those found involved in the incident. Local SP Mukhtar Rai has said that the heads of cows have been recovered in a deserted area near the railway track. Along with this, 12 sacks of mats have also been recovered from there, in which potatoes were filled. Hindu activists of several organizations including 'Bajrang Dal' reached the spot. Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) state vice-presidents Ranjit Rana and Prince Katna as well as former BJP minister Tikasan Sood also reached the spot.

Hindus expressed their anger by holding a sit-in on Jalandhar-Pathankot GT Road. During this, traffic was also stopped in Tanda. The police assured to take action against the culprits, then the protest ended somewhere. Newly elected MLA Jasvir Singh Raja and former Punjab minister Sangat Singh Giljian also reached the spot. Police say that some anti-social elements have left these things here on Friday night and they took the skin of the cows with them. After getting information about the incident, the police reached there and started investigation. A case has also been registered under IPC section 295A (insulting any religion with intent to provoke breach of the peace) as well as the 'Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act'. Describing it as a well-planned incident, the local people demanded the early arrest of the culprits. Protests were warned across Punjab. The local DSP has told that the parts of the cows were brought here from somewhere else. The 'Animal Husbandry Department' reached there and also did the post-mortem of the carcasses of the cows. His report is yet to come.
