New Delhi: Team India announced the names of the rest of the staff after selecting head coach Ravi Shastri. Selection Committee Chairman MSK Prasad has recommended Vikram Rathore to be the batting coach in place of Sanjay Bangar. However, the selection committee has recommended retaining bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar. After the decision, Chief Selector MSK Prasad appeared in the media and gave an interesting explanation when he was asked about not making Jonny Rhodes a fielding coach.

"Sreedhar is one of the best fielding coaches in the world today. He has converted Team India into the best fielding team. Unfortunately, during the World Cup, Sridhar did not get the results as the 2-3 wicketkeepers were playing in the playing XI. There was no doubt about Sridhar re-appointing a fielding coach.

MSK Prasad argued that Jonny Rhodes was not even getting a place in the second and third places, MSK Prasad argued, "We don't even have a place in the second and third ranks of Johnty as the role of those on these two positions is in the India A and NCA. (a) Prasad's plea was unliked by Indian fans, and he strongly denounced him on the BCCI's Twitter account.

Rhodes' claim to be an Indian fielding coach looked quite strong. He was associated with Mumbai Indians for a long time. Rhodes has experience working with Indian players. Jonny Rhodes played 52 Tests and 245 ODIs. Rhodes scored 5935 and 2532 in tests.
