Guwahati : Guwahati Police, Crime Branch have arrested three high-profile gamblers operating cricket betting rackets across the state. An Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket was launched and an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket was launched in Guwahati on Monday night. The police have arrested three gamblers.
They have been identified as Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain. The trio were allegedly operating cricket betting rackets across the state. Sources also said that the Crime Branch has prepared a list based on the confessions of the arrested gamblers, which includes the names of several high profile people who are allegedly linked to cricket betting nexus operating in the state.
On Tuesday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court sent him to two-day police custody. The crime branch has also seized mobile phones and several incriminating documents from the possession of the three arrested. A case has been registered under Section 120B/420 IPC R/W Section 13 and 14 of the Assam Game and Betting Act, 1970 (12/2012).
