Murder of Shiv Sena Leader, 2 Others Sparks Communal Tension

Amravati: The dates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra have been announced. Yesterday i.e. on Monday, three people including a local Shiv Sainik were killed in Amravati city of Maharashtra. Tensions between the two communities have arisen following these incidents. Police has imposed curfew in the city.

Officials said Shiv Sena leader Shyama Pehalwan Nandwanshi (44) was stabbed to death around 12:30 pm. After that people came out of their homes and demanded the arrest of three people from one community. It is being said that Nandvanshi had a fight with a local youth Shah Rukh a few days ago. Shah Rukh allegedly attacked the Shivsainik with a knife.

To avenge the murder, Nandavanshi's supporters also attacked Saif Ali and Abdul Atiq in Lakkad Bazar. Both died on the way to the hospital. Tension prevailed after three murders that took place on the same day and at some places there was a stone pelting incident. Due to which curfew has been imposed in the area.
