A female constable committed suicide in the female barrack of police line of Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. A suicide note has been found from the scene of the incident in which the woman has held a female constable and a male constable responsible for this step. The father of the deceased has lodged a complaint with the Kotwali police against these two accused alleging mental and physical harassment. Neetu Yadav (22), daughter of Raipur resident of Barsathi police station area of Jaunpur district, was admitted to the police in the year 2018.

In January 2019, she made her first deployment to Ballia's Pakri police station. From there she was transferred to the Joint Prosecution Officer's Office in June 2019. She lived on the 2nd floor of the police line of the barrack with two more female constables. The three constables fell asleep after having dinner on Sunday night. At some point in the night, Neetu made a rope and hanged it in the fan hook in the room next to the kitchen of the barrack. In the morning, the two women constables sleeping in the barrack came to know about it, they immediately informed the counter-in-charge. On RI's information, Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, CO and other officials reached the spot. The police are investigating the case.
