Mumbai: A 35-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a gang of drug peddlers in Kurla, Mumbai, just hours after filing a police complaint against them, police said on Tuesday. According to an official, the event occurred late Monday night on Kurla Pipe Road.

On Monday, the victim, Nilesh Kondhalkar, filed a complaint against the gang, which included a constable from the VB Nagar police station, he added. Six members of the gang allegedly went to the victim's house after learning of the police complaint and attacked him with swords, according to the official. Kondhalkar managed to flee his assailants and seek assistance from a neighbour, after which the police were notified, he added.

According to the official, a case was filed under section 307, charging attempt to murder, and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and two of the accused were arrested.
