Criminals as lawmakers: Opposition opposes to special courts law

New Delhi [India], Dec 19 (NT): After declaration of Assambally Polls winner, Parliament winter session started again on Tuesday, Congress leaders in Rajya Sabha conflicted the Centre's plan to set up 12 special courts to try pending criminal cases in opposition to MPs and MLAs.

Speaking in the Upper House, Congress MP Anand Sharma asserted if the view was created that special courts were required only for MPs, other people should not have right to bear the brunt of it. He added it had an inborn potential to be badly treated in entirety by the government of the day.

Sharma further raised questioned that the government to ensure adequate funds for setting up special courts to try criminal cases in opposition to politicians.

The retort to the debate, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad stated the law should be for everyone and legislators alone should not be singled out.

While Derek O' Brien raised the issue of FRDI bill, Congress MP Anand Sharma talked about under trials in India, urging the Modi-Led government to do something to control the issue.
