CUET Application deadline may be extended, Check all the details

The Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) has been opted by at least 168 universities so far for the undergraduate admissions process. Only 90 universities approved CUET for UG programme admissions last year. This year, more institutions are expected to opt for the test for admission, the official said.

The 168 universities include 31 state universities and 44 central institutions, including Cotton University in Guwahati, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics in Karnataka, and Barkatullah University in Bhopal.

"For their undergraduate programmes, 27 recognised universities will admit students depending on their CUET results. This year, the same admission test is being taken by 66 private universities, including Bennett University in Uttar Pradesh, NIIT University in Rajasthan, and UPES in Dehradun " as per reports.

Officials have also been told that there may be a delay in the application deadline. The deadline for applications is now March 12. The CUET exam will be given between May 21 and May 31. By July 2023, universities will have finished the undergraduate (UG) admissions procedure, and the new academic year can start on August 1.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) stated in March 2022 that all central universities will conduct undergraduate admissions through a common entrance test and not based on Class 12 results.

The CUET, the common entrance for undergraduate admissions in all central universities, has surpassed the JEE-Main, whose average registration is nine lakh, to become the second-largest entrance exam in the nation with 14.9 lakh registrations.

Notably, with an average of 18 lakh registrations, the NEET-UG is India's biggest entrance test. While JEE-Mains is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted two times a year, the NEET is conducted in pen and paper mode.
