Cultural activist of Mangaldai Bipul Chaliha Passes Away

Assam's former General Secretary Natya Sanmilan, an active organiser of the Assam theatre movement, an outstanding amateur theatre artist, and director Bipul Chaliha (58) of Mangaldai, has passed away. He died in Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon about 4 p.m. He was admitted to GMCH a few days ago after contracting COVID-19, but he later tested negative.

He was the eldest son of Gajendra Deka and Meera Deka, who lived in Tengabari, Mangaldai Town's Ward No. 6. He was deeply associated with the theatre movement from his school days, and he established a high reputation for his performances in one-act plays in various theatre venues around the state. He also gained a reputation for his ability to anchor any function.

Along with his family, he has left behind his mother, wife, two boys, and three younger brothers. Mangaldai's whole society has been devastated by his untimely death.
