Antigua: Noted West Indies pacer Curtly Ambrose has said that the West Indies team can be competitive in international cricket and go up the rankings, but perhaps the team can never dominate world cricket the way they (Ambrose) were in. When we were the best team in the world, West Indies proudly said how good we were because we were the best then, he added.

Ambrose said it would therefore be extremely difficult to revisit those fantastic days. Yes, we can be competitive and climb up the ICC rankings, but now we don't think they will see beautiful days again. Ambrose said this to Talk Sports Live. Ambrose said he did not want to insult the current generation in any way, but most young players do not know what cricket means for the islands and Caribbean people living abroad. Cricket is the only game that really unites the Caribbean people.

Ambrose further said that it is no longer a disrespect to the players of the present times, because we have some players who have quality and can become great player, but what we have to understand is that I don't think we will ever be able to see those magnificent, extraordinary days again.
