Bankers said customers disturbed over regularly changing RBI tenets are presently going up against them as they attempted to authorize on Wednesday the late notice, looking to scrutinize those saving over Rs 5,000 in old notes. The control made open on Tuesday, much to their alleviation, was moved back on Wednesday.
"Given the ponderousness of the procedure," a bank official told, "We didn't expect straight replies from the clients who were asked rather odd inquiries after they had remained in lines at branches for a considerable length of time. When we asked them for what valid reason they didn't store their notes in this way, some of them let us know their spouses had concealed the cash; some others said they just took after the PM's recommendation of being patient and not add to the surge in the underlying days."
A noticeably disturbed client at Bank of Baroda's Subash Nagar branch in Bareilly said, "It's my cash and it is not dark. Why am I being made inquiries as though I have stolen someone's cash?"
Bank of Baroda's Izzatnagar branch head Kamal Kant Srivastava said, "We had no real option except to conform to RBI's request. In any case, we had an extreme time disclosing to our clients we couldn't skirt the procedure.
