LUCKNOW: Two guys were nabbed at Lucknow Airport for smuggling 224 kilos of gold worth Rs 11.91 lakh. On Friday, a passenger who had arrived at Lucknow Airport from Sharja was arrested, according to a customs official.

"He was apprehended based on passenger profiling. One 24 carat gold chain and five magnetic bracelets were found in his luggage during the search. When the bracelets were dismantled, 40 little chopped bits of gold were discovered. The gold weighed 224 grammes and was valued at Rs 11.91 lakh "The official stated.

The passenger informed the customs inspector that he needed to give this to a receiver waiting outside the airport. The person who had arrived to receive the gold was also apprehended.

"Section 110 of the Customs Act was used to take the gold. Under Section 104 of the Customs Act, the flight passengers were detained "The officer stated.

Both of them were brought before the court, which remanded them in judicial detention after hearing their arguments. The matter is currently being investigated further.
