Cyber Attacks now targeting Sberbank and Alfa Bank in Russia

Sberbank and Alfa bank are two largest banks in Russia. And now their security is at stake because they are targeting by the cyber attacker in recent days. Kaspersky Lab who provides cybersecurity to these banks said: “the distributed denial of service attacks represented the first major wave of such attacks on Russian banks this year and that at least five of the country's largest banks had been targeted.”

Russia has been on high alert for cyber threats after US Vice President Joe Biden said last month that Washington would retaliate against alleged Russian hackers "at the time of our choosing" following what the United States said was a campaign of cyber-attacks against Democratic Party organisations.

The sources are still unknown to the banks and Security Company, and they still not ready to link the cyber-attacks with the comment of Biden. Kaspersky is trying to search the loop hole which helps hackers to attack the bank. Kaspersky said Russian banks were regularly subject to DDoS attacks, in this attacker trying to fill the internet with junk traffic. This traffic makes the computer system of the user slow and non-responsive.

Sberbank said, “the DDoS attacks on its systems had started on Tuesday and continued on Thursday.”

"The attacks were organised using botnets spread over tens of thousands of computers located in a number of different countries," Sberbank said in a statement. No major attacks held not the Alfa Bank, some short attack happened on Tuesday but it does not affect the business processes of the bank. They are constantly working on the safety of their systems.
