NEW DELHI: Amit Shah, the union home minister, claimed on Wednesday (July 12) that cybercrimes pose a serious risk to people's security all over the world in the quickly developing borderless digital sphere.  He said that the key to properly battling this threat is a strong global alliance.

On Thursday, July 13, Shah will open the two-day G20 conference in Gurugram on "Crime and Security in the Age of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Metaverse." Over 900 people from the G20, nine special invitee nations, international organisations, thought leaders in technology, and subject matter experts from all over the world will attend the conference.

"Cybercrimes, especially cyber frauds, pose a significant threat to the security of citizens all over the world in a quickly developing borderless digital arena. The secret to successfully battling this threat is a solid international relationship, Shah stated in a tweet.

The G20 summit on cybersecurity, according to the home minister, will feature intensive brainstorming between G20 nations, nine special invitee nations, and subject matter experts.

"By addressing a wide range of cybersecurity concerns, the conference will emphasise global partnerships to counter cybercrimes and pave the way for safer cyberspace," he said.

According to an official statement, Shah will also lead cyber volunteer squads from seven of the nation's top educational institutions. These specially designated volunteers will work to raise society's awareness of the internet, identify and report harmful content, and provide technical support to make society more secure online.

Shah will also open a gallery and present a conference medallion.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that creating a "cyber safe India" was one of its top priorities, under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the home minister.

The conference is envisioned as a chance to create a worldwide alliance to prioritise cybersecurity issues and create a secure cyberspace. In the context of novel and cutting-edge technologies like NFT, AI, and Metaverse, the proceedings will be centred on cyber security and strategies to combat cybercrime.

Due to its economic and geopolitical ramifications, cybersecurity has emerged as a crucial component of international security-related activities.

According to the statement, the G20 forum's increased attention to cybersecurity can help to ensure the security and integrity of vital information infrastructure and digital public platforms.

The G20 forum's discussions on cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention will aid in the creation of a framework for information exchange. The conference will offer a forum for cutting-edge thought, knowledge sharing, and global networking.
