Kolkata: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a big update regarding Cyclone Mocha. It is being told that the cyclone can take a fatal form in the next 6 hours. It can turn into a severe cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal. The cyclone is continuously moving towards north-northeast. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has deployed several teams in West Bengal amid fears of a cyclone. Apart from these, there is a possibility of light to heavy rains in Tripura, Mizoram and some states of the North East.

 

According to the report, the cyclone is expected to cross the coasts of southeast Myanmar and northern Myanmar between Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh and Kyawpyu in Myanmar. According to the Meteorological Department, it is an extremely severe cyclonic storm with wind speed reaching 175 kmph with maximum sustained wind speed of 150-160 kmph near Sittwe around afternoon of May 14.

In view of the cyclone storm, 8 teams of NDRF have been deployed in West Bengal. Commandant of NDRF's second battalion, Gurminder Singh has told that today i.e. on May 12, Cyclone Mocha can turn into a severe storm and on May 14 into a very severe cyclone. 8 teams have been deployed. 200 rescuers have been sent to the ground and 100 rescuers have been kept on standby.
