GUJRAT: Thousands of people have been relocated from the coastal area of Gujarat as both the central and state governments closely monitor the precautionary measures to prevent any harm to people and animals. The India Meteorological Department reports that cyclone Biparjoy is currently heading towards the Kutch coast in Gujarat and is expected to make landfall near Jakhau port on the evening of June 15.

The state government has successfully evacuated 37,800 residents residing near the sea in eight districts, relocating them to safer shelter facilities.

Yesterday night, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of Gujarat visited the state government's emergency operations center and assessed the level of preparedness.

Weather officials consider cyclone Biparjoy to be highly destructive, posing a significant threat to the coastal region of Gujarat. Some experts predict that Biparjoy will cause extensive damage to thatched and concrete houses, uproot electric towers and trees, and lead to flooding in multiple districts.
