There has been big news about cyclone 'Jawad'. In fact, it rained in Puri in Odisha this morning, Sunday morning, before reaching its coastal areas. On the other hand, the Met department (IMD) said that the storm is likely to hit and weaken the Entire coast by this afternoon. It is also learnt that heavy rain is likely to occur in parts of Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack districts of Odisha for the next few hours.

The Met department says the Jawad storm has now turned into a deep erroneous pressure. Today, the storm is likely to weaken and landslides are likely to occur along the Puri coast in the afternoon, though 18 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in West Bengal earlier. This time officials say they are ready to evacuate people if needed. The biggest and relief is that the storm has weakened, though all preparations have been made in Digha before the landfall.

The bulletin issued by IMD recently said that the deep pressure area is concentrated 230 km east-north-east of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, about 130 km south-southwest of Gopalpur, 180 km south-southeast of Puri, 270 km south-southwest of Paradip. The Met department has said that wind speed of 90-100 kmph is likely to blow along the Puri coast of Odisha last Sunday. Heavy rains may affect normal life at some places in coastal districts.
