Chennai: Where the winter is increasing in the North Indian states, the process of rain is still going on in the South. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the deep pressure created in South India, there are chances of cyclonic storm Mandous. Its effect will be seen in the southern regions. Puducherry, Sriharikota between Puducherry, North Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh coasts will be affected by this storm from 8 to 11 December.

An alert has been issued for these areas. On the other hand, on December 9, with strong winds of 70 kmph, heavy rain is also expected for the next three days. On Wednesday (December 7) too, a deep depression formed over the southwest and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal. On Thursday (December 8), Cyclone Mandous lay about 500 km east-southeast of Karaikal and 580 km southeast of Chennai.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in some areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. By the afternoon of December 10, the speed of strong winds will reduce to 50-60 km in these areas. After that, this speed will remain 40-50 km till night. Meanwhile, the state government has advised fishermen not to venture into the Sri Lankan coast and Bay of Bengal for the next four days. The NDRF team has also been alerted. The government says that our team is ready to deal with every situation.
