Kolkata: Cyclone Sitrang is likely to enter Bangladesh on Tuesday (October 25) morning. This information has been given by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The Meteorological Department says that the depression over the Andaman Sea can turn into a cyclone. It is expected that this storm will hit the coastal areas of Bangladesh on October 25. Along with this, it can also show its influence in some areas of West Bengal.

It is estimated that winds can run at a speed of up to 110 kilometres per hour. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert amid the forecast of it taking a severe form. In which heavy rains in some areas of West Bengal and light and moderate rains in some areas may also be due to this. This comes a day after the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), headed by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, took stock of the preparedness of the central and state governments on Friday. The cyclone is expected to hit the coast on October 25. In the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary said that fishermen should be called back and people living in sensitive areas should be evacuated to safer places even before the cyclonic storm hits.

According to an official statement, the NCMC took stock of the preparedness of central ministries, agencies and state and union territory governments. The Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has apprised the NCMC of the latest weather system conditions, which are expected to move northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm on October 24, the statement said.
