Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has approved a relief package of Rs 252 crore for the people of cyclone affected coastal districts. In fact, a weekly cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the decision has been taken during the same meeting. "252 crores is more than the amount generated by the Central Government under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) under the Rules. About 72 crore will be created under NDRF rules.''

In addition, officials have also informed that "additional expenditure will be borne by the State. On the other hand, the government says that the family of anyone who has died will be given four lakh rupees under NDRF rules and one lakh rupees from the state fund." In fact, a statement has been issued by the Chief Minister's Office. According to the statement, those whose houses have been completely destroyed will be given Rs 1,50,000-1,50,000.

At the same time, those whose houses have been damaged by 50 per cent will get 50,000 rupees each and those whose houses have been damaged by 25 per cent will get 25,000 rupees each. 15,000-15,000 rupees will be given for houses and damaged slums with 15 per cent damage. Let us also tell all of you that Cyclone Tauktae had wreaked havoc in Maharashtra before reaching Gujarat.
