Ahmedabad: Cyclone ' Vayu ', which is left untouched by Gujarat before its approach to Oman, still continues to be a danger of heavy rain and strong winds in the coastal areas of the state. The authorities have informed that while the ' centre of the Storm ' has moved away from here, the outer confines of the cyclone will still have an impact on the coastal areas.

The State administration has already taken about three million people living in the lower reaches of the coastal areas to safer places. Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani has said that the cyclone ' Vayu ', which is coming towards Gujarat, has now turned to Oman, according to the meteorological Bulletin. But the administration will be on high alert for the next 24 hours.

He said that as a precautionary measure, schools in the coastal districts of Saurashtra and Kutch would remain closed on Friday. After reviewing the situation on Thursday evening, Gujarat CM has said that the cyclone is no longer a threat but the administration on the coastal areas will still remain alert. He told the press in Gandhinagar that the meteorological department said the cyclone is no longer a threat as it has turned towards Oman without touching the coastal area.
