Visakhapatnam: Fishermen fishing in the sea have been alerted by coast guard forces near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh over the cyclonic storm. The Indian Navy and Coast Guard are constantly alerting fishermen fishing in the Bay of Bengal sea from the northern coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh to return from the sea.

The Defence Ministry said the Indian Coast Guard has taken precautionary measures in view of the "cyclonic storm Yaas" (Cyclone Yaas) on the east coast, as a low pressure area is expected to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal on May 22. India's Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that a low pressure area is expected to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal in two days.

It is also expected to move northwestwards and turn into a cyclonic storm by May 24, which will be called Cyclone Yaas. In view of this, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has started taking precautionary measures on the East Coast.
