New Delhi: The Income Tax Department conducted raids at offices in several cities of media group Dainik Bhaskar on charges of tax evasion. The raids have been conducted at Bhopal, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and some other cities. After the income tax department's action, the entire opposition rallied and started cornering the government. From Arvind Kejriwal to Mamata and Rahul Gandhi to Surjewala, everyone is working with all their might to declare it a "cowardly attack on press freedom." Amidst all this, it is very interesting to see what is the opinion of a journalist who has worked in Dainik Bhaskar on this issue. What do they have to say about this raid?

LN Sheetal, who worked at Dainik Bhaskar, has taken a stand on the issue through Facebook. He wrote in his post, 'The media is not a sacred cow that enjoys 'RakshaKavach!' The raids by IT and ED on the country's largest media house- 'Bhaskar Group'- are said to be an attack on the media. The government is said to have taken this action to teach the Bhaskar group a lesson and scare other newspapers/channels by getting bothered with its anti-incumbency.' He wrote, "Those who say that no newspaper or news channel is a "Holy Cow" at all that has a protective shield. Who does not know that various newspapers and channels, under the guise of banners, commit all kinds of mismanagement and leave no stone unturned to crack down on governments to ignore the illegal activities associated with those sections? Bhaskar Sirmour is among them. In the name of the newspaper, it is their privilege to grab land from governments at exorbitant prices and then use those lands arbitrarily.'

He further wrote, 'This group is the fastest to work with builders to build and sell flats and encourage their readers to increase the sale of their products by meeting traders! Media is also an industry. So, like any other industry, why can't it be raided? But as soon as the raids are conducted, some people start shouting that retaliation is taking place. No media house, which does not have even Rs 100 crore in 1992, is there no secret of how it became thousands of crores by 2021. It doesn't require much knowledge to understand.'

LN Sheetal further wrote in his post, 'Bhaskar is the most powerful, largest, most fearless and fastest media group, as they claim! They have a lot of energy in their voice, their reach is far away, governments are trembling with them, they sound indirectly!! So what is the fear? If they have not evaded taxes, they can shake parliament on the strength of the opposition (?), speak strongly in the Supreme Court with the help of the army of expensive lawyers, and forgive the election results on the strength of his vastest readership! When he can do anything, what is the point of IT/ED!!' We have often heard that repeated lying slowly leads people to believe it, whether Bhaskar is guilty or innocent, but the atmosphere that is being created before that cannot be justified.
