Nanded: A 24-year-old Dalit man was allegedly murdered by a group of men in Maharashtra's Nanded district over the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Br Ambedkar, police said on Sunday. After this incident, there was a stir in the area. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and started the proceedings. Police have arrested seven persons in connection with the murder. Police reported this on Saturday.

The incident took place two days ago in Bondar Haveli village, a Nanded police official said. The deceased has been identified as Akshay Bhalerao. Police said Akshay Bhalerao was passing through a road on Thursday evening. Due to this, criminals were dancing with a sword in their hands at a person's wedding. On seeing Akshay Bhalerao and his brother Akash, one of the criminals started saying that "how dare he celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 in the village", police said. There was a sharp debate about this. Due to this, the criminals beat Akshay Bhalerao badly and stabbed him to death. The criminals also brutally assaulted Akshay's brother.

After receiving the news of the incident, the police reached the spot and took Akshay Bhalerao to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC and have started investigation. The police have arrested seven accused and are investigating the matter.
