Dehradun: Cracks continue to appear in buildings in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. While 610 buildings had shown cracks till Sunday (January 8), the figure has gone up to 678 on Monday. At the same time, the number of displaced families has also increased from 68 to 81. On the other hand, the administration has now started marking houses as risky to live in since Sunday afternoon, which means that families living in them will necessarily be sent to relief camps.

Joint Magistrate Deepak Saini has informed that the city's Manoharbagh, Singhdhar, and Marwari have been divided into 4 danger zones from where all the people are being shifted elsewhere in view of security, as well as the movement of SDRF in these areas has increased. They have been kept to avoid any kind of challenges. The administration has identified 19 buildings in Joshimath city and 20 buildings outside the city for an alternate accommodation of people in safe places. The administration intends that if the situation worsens in Joshimath, people can be alternatively accommodated in hotels and buildings outside the city.

ADM Chamoli has constituted 9 sector teams in the city, which are closely inspecting each and every building of the city and reporting its status. In 2 days, these teams have put red marks on more than 90 buildings in various areas of the city, which means that these houses are now in danger and people living in them will have to live in displacement centers or on rent elsewhere.
