One of the most controversial 'horror' movie named "mother" which is directed by Darren Aronofsky was recently screened at the ongoing Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai, and many people who attended the film festival took to Twitter and discuss the film over there. The movie starrer Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, opened to extremely polarised response in the US back in September, after it premiered at the Venice Film Festival. The movie reviews were either scathing or very positive. The film currently sits at a ‘fresh’ 68% on review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes.

The studio called Paramount behind the film defended Aronofsky’s vision. Here’s their statement: “This movie is very audacious and brave. You are talking about a director at the top of his game, and an actress at the top her game. They made a movie that was intended to be bold. Everyone wants original filmmaking, and everyone celebrates Netflix when they tell a story no one else wants to tell. This is our version. We don’t want all movies to be safe. And it’s okay if some people don’t like it.”

The team even tried to capitalise on the buzz by appropriating some of the more quotes on a poster, but the film could barely manage to make back its $30 million budget.
