Abuja: Dr. Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, the running mate of Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has urged party members to stay away from ethnic and religious politics.

Speaking to party members in Bauchi, Baba-Ahmed called, advising them to focus on credible candidates free from religious and moral prejudices.

Ahead of the general elections in 2023, he advised party members to avoid provoking racial or religious tensions. He claimed, "I am in Bauchi to urge you people not to give up on the efforts being made for the Labor Party in the country.

Do not confuse politics with matters of religion or ethnicity; If politics were a matter of religion then we should let the clerics rule. Politics is neither a matter of religion nor ethnicity because God has already divided us into different groups and tribes around the world.

According to Baba-Ahmed, if Nigerians avoid religious and ethnic politics, it will not only promote peace but will pave the way for the emergence of capable leaders in the nation.

Obidatti's running mate urged party members to go above and beyond to spread awareness of the Labor Party's platform and "Obidattie mandate".

Additionally, Mr. Husseini Sarki, the president of the Labor Party in Bauchi State, promised to inform the public and party members about the qualifications of the presidential candidate and his vice presidential running mate.

He claimed that the Labor Party was succeeding despite the opposition and that Datti's presence would inspire and lift his spirits.

Mr. Abel Musa, President of "OBIDATTI Coalition", said that the coalition is contacting and mobilizing voters for the party and its candidates.
