Rajouri: on Saturday, Days after a terror attack on CRPF convoy in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a Major-rank Army officer was killed while defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), planted by the terrorists in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district along the Line of Control.Major Chitresh Singh Bisht, a resident of Uttarakhand's Dehradun was from the Corps of Engineers. The Major-rank army officer was killed while defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which had been planted by terrorists. The officer is from the Corps of Engineers. The IED was planted 1.5 kms inside the Line of Control in the Naushera sector, Rajouri district, in J&K.

On Thursday, at least 40 security personnel lost their lives and several others were injured after a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy in Awantipora of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The convoy comprised 78 buses in which around 2500 personnel were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar. The Pulwama attack, which is being considered as the dastardly attack in the state of Jammu and Kashmir so far, has drawn a huge backlash from various quarters, including several international communities. In the wake of the attack, India also revoked Pakistan's most-favoured nation (MFN) status. Addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Dhule district, Prime Minister said, there has been outrage among people of the country in the wake of the ghastly attack, adding "it is time for mourning and to show sensitivity and restrain". He further said that security forces have been given a free hand to punish the perpetrators of the attack, adding that "Pakistan has become synonymous with terrorism".
Earlier today, deploring the terror attack and sending a stern message to Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that if someone teases new India, it will not let it go unpunished.
