Thiruvananthapuram: The death toll in Kerala continues to rise amid heavy rains and landslides. According to the information received, the rain subsided in the worst affected districts of Kerala, while many were surprised to see that there was no trace of their houses left. The death toll in the state has risen to 35 last Monday and the southern state is likely to face stormy weather. Recently, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued yellow alerts in 11 districts effective from Wednesday, warning of severe weather conditions.

Let me tell all of you that the authorities have issued red alerts in 10 dams. In the Pathanamthitta district, sluice gates of Kakki and Pamba dams were opened. At the same time, state revenue minister K Rajan said after a review meeting in Pathanamthitta that the pilgrimage to Sabarimala hill temple has been stopped due to rising water levels in Pamba and other rivers.
