Bhubaneswar: After a cyclonic circulation was seen in Odisha early Wednesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that a low-pressure system could form and migrate to the country's northwest.

"Around May 6, we predict a low-pressure region to form in the South Andaman Sea and its environs. Following creation, we predict the low-pressure region to continue northwest, where it will deepen into a deep depression in 48 hours, or on May 8 " Umashankar Das, a senior scientist at IMD in Bhubaneswar said.

"As of now, we predict the wind speed due to the depression to be approximately 40-50 km/hr from May 5 onwards, increasing to 55-65 km/hr on May 8 with gusts up to 75 km/hr," he said. " We have not predicted what will be the further situation of its intensification; up to what level the system will intensify; in which direction the system will move after becoming a depression; towards which coast will it move," he continued, "but until now, fishermen are advised not to venture in the Andaman Sea area, adjoining East-central and Southeast Bay of Bengal."

From May 5 to May 8, fishermen are advised not to venture into the Andaman Sea, which borders the Southeast and East-central Bay of Bengal.
