Recently on occasion of book launch, Deepika Padukone got sincere about her experience with gender pay disparity and how she denied a film as she thought it was unfair to her credibility as an actor.

During the launch, the actress spoke courageously about the issues pertaining to female actors, especially the dreaded pay gap disparity on the basis of gender. The Padmaavat star got candid about refusing a movie due to the pay gap with her male co-star.

Deepika shares that, "she knows her track record and what she has worth. She knows that his films haven't been doing well as her films have been doing. It made absolutely no sense.  She was okay to say no to that film based on that one thing as I thought it was unfair.

She further added that "she doesn't think that she 'll be able to live with the thought knowing that she has been a part of a film, had the same creative contribution or bringing the same value to a film but being underpaid,"
