Many stars took to their social media account to share photos after casting a vote and urged their fans to do the same. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone too shared a photo on Twitter proving that she voted, amidst rumours that claimed the diva holds a Danish passport.

Deepika shared her photo along with a caption that read, "Never has there been any doubt in my mind about who I am or where I’m from. So for those of you confused on my behalf...please don’t be! Jai Hind!#proudtobeanindian #govote."

Meanwhile, rumours regarding Deepika's citizenship has been making rounds of the internet for quite some time now. Deepika was born in Copenhagen, Denmark but grew up in Bengaluru before joining the film industry. Reports claimed that the actress held a Danish Passport and would not be allowed to cast her vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. 

Clearing that the actress holds an Indian passport, Deepika denied the rumours in a press conference she attended. The actress said that she was a proud Indian citizen and will be definitely be voting in the elections.

On the work front, Deepika is currently shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, that is based on the life of acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal. The actress will be seen sharing screen space with Vikrant Massey and recently the makers of the film wrapped up the Delhi schedule of the film. A video from the sets of the film surfaced on the internet, in which the Deepika is seen locking lips with her co-star Vikrant. Chhapaak is slated for a January 10 release next year.
