Qatar’s star sprinter Haroun dies aged 24

Veteran Qatar athlete Abdalelah Aaron passed away. According to information received, he passed away during a car crash last Saturday. Let us tell you that 24-year-old Aaron won a bronze medal in the 400m event of the World Championships in 2017. Last Saturday, World Athletics confirmed the news citing media reports. In fact, the 24-year-old former world junior champion was trying to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics this year. He was hurt at the 2019 World Championships in Doha and could not move beyond the heats.

Now he has been trying to make a comeback since the Corona transition so that he could qualify for the Tokyo Olympics but now he has passed away. Qatar Olympic Committee President Sheikh Joam bin Hamad bin Khalilfa Al Thani tweeted and confirmed Aaron's death. He wrote only 'Hero Qatari Runner' in the tweet and did not give any details about the accident. Apart from him, the Qatar Olympic Committee also tweeted to Fans about it.

Let me tell you that Aaron was born in Sudan though he has been representing Qatar since 2015. In 2015, he won 400 m gold at the Asian Championships and also set a record in the Asia U-20. He also won the Asian Indoor Title the following year and won the World Indoor Championships. He participated in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. He reached the semifinals at the Rio Olympics.
