Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone offered prayers at the Siddhivinayak Temple here on Tuesday. Clad in traditional attire, the 32-year-old took the blessings of Lord Ganesha for her upcoming controversial film 'Padmaavat'. The actress has often been spotted at the temple before the release of her films. Starring Deepika, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, the flick has run into trouble time and again, as members of several Rajput factions have accused director Sanjay Leela Bhansali of distorting history. The magnum-opus is based on 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic poem 'Padmaavat'.

It is all set for a worldwide January 25 release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. In a report, the people from the village of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh demanded a share from the films’ earnings so that the works related to the restoration of the birthplace and research institute of the poet can be carried out. Reportedly, Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer Padmaavat is inspired by Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem of the same name. Meanwhile, the Bhansali's film is all set for a worldwide January 25 release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The film is based on 16th-century Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic poem 'Padmavat'.
