Defence Ministry signs agreement with IITE, Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: An official from the Ministry of Defence said on Friday that the ministry has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) in Gandhinagar to enable teacher training at Sainik Schools.

On behalf of the Defence Ministry, Rakesh Mittal, Joint Secretary (Land & Works) and Secretary, Sainik Schools Society (SSS), and Himanshu Patel, Registrar of IITE, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and IITE Vice-Chancellor Harshad A. Patel in the national capital on Friday.

"The MoU is an important step toward enhancing the capacity of Sainik School instructors in terms of providing high-quality education to pupils who share the Indian culture. It would assist to improve the image of not only current Sainik Schools, but also 100 new ones "According to the Defense Secretary. Over 800 teachers from all Sainik Schools will be trained through courses called 'Gurudiksha' and 'Pratibaddhata' beginning in January 2022 and lasting for five years.

The goal of the MoU is to provide "tomorrow's teachers" with transformative understanding of Indian traditions and usher in a new era of teacher education that emphasises teachers' holistic development.
